Puppy and Pumpkin Love

Last week we welcomed a little one into our home.   This little one:

We’re officially a family now.

Dear Tessa,

You’re already aware of how much you’re worth it to us.  Even though you pee on the carpet… and outside… and in Petsmart.

You’re so smart!  So, we know you’ll get the hang of it all.  We’re proud of you for waiting patiently for your food and for trying so hard not to cry in your crate.  You’ve also mastered snoozing on the couch and licking peanut butter off the floor.

You’ve tested our patience and our sanity, but we’re better for it.  At least better at sacrificially standing in the cold grass at 6:30am. We don’t know if you’re half Beagle and half Corgi, but you’ve confirmed that you’re 60% cuddle-loving, 10% psycho-energy bone-gnawing, and 30% ears. I hope you love your nicknames, Vacuum Lips and Little Deer.  Even if you don’t, we won’t take them back.

Love,

Mom and Dad

In other exciting news, I think it’s time for a good round-up, hodgepodge, list of favorite things.

Sometimes, it’s nice to have gorgeous food (aka meal ideas) staring you in the face, instead of having to seek out recipes on your own.  Often, I’m thrilled when somebody else gives me an interesting article to read, clever video to watch, or groove-tastic band to listen to without any effort on my part.  Instant inspiration gratification, you know?

So, every once and a while I’ll be contributing to the Pinterest-worthy link love posts that are common in the blog world.  Get your Pin-It buttons ready! Some bloggers call this their “Friday Favorites”, or a smattering of what they’re “Crushing” on, or the “Grocery List” of things they hope to make in their own kitchens.  I’ll just call each round up posts a Collective.

This week, it’s The November Foodie Collective.  As in, please, lets shove as much pumpkin and squash and apples in our faces as possible.  Cool?  Here are a few things I’ve been drooling over/Pinning lately:

Side-note (#whatafreak #humble-brag):  I adamantly rebel against the time-suck that is Pinterest (see Urban Dictionary #1) with my organized intentionality.  Meaning:  I try not to pin it unless I plan to make it/do it IN REAL LIFE.  So basically, I use Pinterest to organize my life.  If its a pancake recipe, it goes on the pancake board, not the baked goods board or the snacks board.  #yikes

1. Pumpkin Beer Bread via Gimme Some Oven.

Beer is not my fave.  Beer in bread is my absolute fave.  Pumpkin beer and pumpkin puree in beer bread?  Genius.  Give me a buttered slice with my soup, please!

2. Apple Cider Pancakes with Maple Cider Syrup via Iowa Girl Eats.

Sounds like perfection for a lazy, chilly, weekend morning.

3. This Fall Recipe Idea Roundup by Naturally Ella for using your favorite fall ingredients, from Brussels Sprouts to Sweet Potatoes.

So much nutritious, glorious fall food!

4. Pumpkin Buckwheat Bake for Two via Edible Perspective

I made these a few weeks ago and it was really yummy, especially topped with peanut butter.  Really, I’m just working my way through every “Breakfast Friday” recipe that Ashley posts on her gorgeous blog.  We speak the same food language.

5. Pumpkin Hummus via Pinch of Yum

I made this for a little get together to celebrate Jordan’s birthday and it was a hit!

6. Chicken and Biscuits Pot Pie via Buttered Side Up

Chicken and Biscuit Pot Pie

It’s on our menu this week.  I’m just waiting on the cold front.  Check out that steam!

I could go on forever!  This is truly the best cookin’ and eatin’ season.  So, get your pumpkin on.  And your puppy lovin’ on.  If you don’t have one… find one and kiss it!  (But don’t be creepy.)
